I spent most of my weekend locked up by myself working on some new Hysteric Haus designs. It was pretty frustrating, but I was able to come up with sketches of some new stuff. Picking colors is always the hardest part..there are so many possibilities! Sometimes the Pantone book makes it more difficult….

I did happen to notice that my nail polish, “Did It On ‘Em” by OPI is a close match to Pantone 381 U.

Playing with color combinations.

I like to use pom poms as a color reference due to their texture. They can help me visualize how something may look in material form, as opposed to a coated Pantone chip.

I have also been using feathers to help me see color in a more textural way. Plus, it makes things more exciting!
I was going through my iPhone photos and came across these random images from the past year. Most of them have been altered using the Picture Show app. I’m not really into Instagram. It makes pictures look too dull for my taste. These pictures are a pretty accurate look into the world of Hysteric Haus.

Photos from our shoot with Julie Klima! This is one of my favorites…I could barely get off the ground! We’re working on developing a press kit and a new website…so we needed some professional photos.

We’re busy printing some new Webwom pillows in new color ways! This print is pretty popular, so I’m excited that it’s back in production.

Preparing to print…burning the design onto the screens. Ho makes it happen.

We’re also designing some new marketing materials for an exciting opportunity we were invited to take part in. More details to come…

Ice cream break!
Hysteric Haus has some exciting things coming up…this should be an interesting year!

3 DAYS ‘TIL UNIQUE LA.
Now that Horacio is back, we’ve been able to get some of the more difficult projects completed. The wood is going to be part of a wall for our booth display…we calculated and cut the planks to be varying heights and alternating colors. It looked good in my head…
I’m excited to see the result.
We also finished cutting, sanding and painting the wood picture frames. Now they just need to be screen printed and assembled.
GO TEAM HYSTERIC!

We have been trying to get everything in order for Unique LA this weekend. Today I finished up a portion of the walls for our booth! I couldn’t help but go gaga over the runoff ink puddles…so pretty! Purple and pinks tend to be a recurring color combo in our work. I am really anxious to see the whole booth come together.
ONLY 5 MORE DAYS!!

We go through a lot of spray paint at Hysteric Haus. We go through a lot more whenever we are preparing for a show….like Unique LA. Luckily for us, Montana Cans in Echo Park and 33Third have sales like the one today. We got the rest of what we needed for our booth design for under $100! Plus, they threw in some free stuff ‘cuz we spent so much. We ended up going to both stores to get everything we needed. I love the entrance to 33Third…so mysterious.
As soon as we got back…I finished up some art work for some products. Making a mess is so much fun!

We screen print all of our textiles…and we have the washout booth to prove it! Our awesome, homemade washout booth has become a bright, sticky, hysteric rainbow of color. I think it’s really pretty.
