I’VE BEEN PERCOLATING

My kinda Klimt-ish carousel

I was wandering the virtual isles of the App Store and came across Percolator. It’s a photo app that transforms images so they appear to be made up of a variety of circles, rings, bubbles, and even stars! The app takes on the theme of a coffee maker that brews different filters. There are so many possible variations; it’s kept me occupied for hours. Check out my images below along with the recipe used to create the effects.

Recipe for image above:

Grind: Fine (Smallest Circles & Effect: Saturate), Brew: Treble (3/4 Pic & Darkest Blended Circles), Serve: Light & Sweet (Candy Stripe Tone & Smooth Texture)

Become a constellation

Recipe:

Grind: Fine (Average Circles & Effect: Auto Adjust), Brew: Full of Stars (1/2 Pic & Full Blended Circles), Serve: Black (Sad Hipster Tone & Paper Cup Texture)

That’s me made up of rings

Recipe:

Grind: Fine (Smallest Circles & Effect: Saturate), Brew: Rings (No Pic & Full Blended Circles), Serve: Black (Cross-Perc Tone & Smooth Texture)

Circles

Recipe:

Grind: Medium (Average Circles & Effect: Auto Adjust), Brew: Color Gels (1/2 Pic & Full Blended Circles), Serve: Stirred (Cross-Perc Tone & Smooth Texture)

What are your favorite photo apps?!

SUPER SEXY SOFAS

SMALA by Pascal Mourge for Cinna

I love furniture. It makes me happy and evokes emotion unlike any other art form.  These are a few sofas I’ve come across that I would gladly own and sit on regularly. Though, these pieces are expensive, a sofa is the item I would definitely  splurge on. It’s big enough to be the focal point of a room and since it’s made for sitting, you might as well have something that’s comfortable and able to keep up with constant use.

But in the meantime, I’ll keep dreaming…

TRIPPPLE NIPPPLES LIVE

This Friday night we went to see the super energetic, primal, crazy Japanese band, Trippple Nippples perform in Santa Monica. It was so much fun! They are all over the place- singing and screaming between Japanese and English. They also jump around a lot. A LOT!  The crowd was really into it, adding to the high energy at Central.

FUN AND FAFINESS

Tonight was the Fafi book signing at Gallery Nucleus! She was signing her new book, The Carmine Vault and selling an assortment of super cute art prints.

A page from the book. It’s vibrant, fun, exciting, silly and colorful..everything one would expect from such a whimsical artist.

I got my copy!

Lots of Fafi fans came out for the event.

I met Fafi!! I was pretty excited. I’m still excited.

“Pour Martina!”

…Not bad for a Monday night!

BEATS ON REPEAT

This past week I’ve been listening to some pretty chill music and a lot of early 90′s Madonna.

KID A. Her music speaks for itself; I have nothing to add. She’s gonna blow up this year.

Fuck yeah Syd tha Kyd and Matt Martian AKA The Internet. Album has been on repeat and I just got tickets to their show at the Echo next month.

I go through Madonna phases…

COLOR ON GLASS, FROSTING ON CAKE, AND YARN I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH

Anything translucent fascinates me. I love the effect of light shining though color. I had painted/scribbled/drawn on these glass panels I had, and put them up to light and other items. The color combinations are straight out of a kaleidoscope.

Within a span  of two weeks, I baked three different batches of cupcakes. That is not common for me…but I started to like it. I experimented with different food colorings in my icing and different frosting techniques. No two were alike! The blue with coconut were my favorite.

I have no idea what to do with this crazy ball of yarn!? But it was colorful and shiny and it screamed “take me home”. So I did… I don’t even think it is yarn, but I found it in the knitting isle.
